Who we are
We are a team of over 50 staff, with registered Pharmacists and Pharmacist Technicians supported by administrative staff to provide a variety of pharmaceutical services.
We are a trusted partner of the NHS, providing the benefits of having an experienced pharmacist working for your GP practice. Our pharmacists will add value to your practice whether they are on site or accessing it remotely via our secure NHS connection.

Our Pharmicus team have have a wealth of experience in operating at a range of support packages to individual practices requiring 'little and often' support, we have a solution for you.
What we do
We provide a range of pharmaceutical services to a wide footprint of 88 GP practices and thousands of service users across the whole of the North East Cumbria and Durham.

We deliver our services in practice and remote from our head office. These include centralised remote support, support with medications within a GP practice and support in care homes.

Below you can find a little bit about how our Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians work independently and as part of a team on a daily basis.

Pharmacist
We employ Pharmacists with a wide range of experience and skills. In primary care, pharmacists advise patients on the safe and effective use of their medicines. They carry out in depth medication reviews, reduce medication burden and improve patient outcomes. Our pharmacists also offer advice to healthcare professionals concerning all aspects of medication including guideline and formulary queries. Some of our pharmacists are Independent Prescribers and are able to make clinical decisions regarding patient care as well as remove workload from GP’s and other healthcare professionals.
Pharmacy Technician
Our Pharmacy Technicians are experts in systems and processes. They update the patient record following a hospital discharge or clinic visit to ensure the medication list is correct and can query and resolve any issues. They support our Pharmacists and carry out medication updates and changes by following robust standard operating procedures.

AHSN Lipid Project

Two of our Pharmacy Technicians have recently started working with the AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) to review and improve patients' cholesterol lowering medication in the South Tyneside Area. This work not only ensures cost-effective treatment is prescribed but also improves patient safety and outcomes.
Flu Outbreaks

Pharmicus have provided support to GP practices, care homes and out of hour services in the North East of England over the Festive and New Year period with flu outbreaks. Utilising our prescribing pharmacists we have supported ...care homes and prescribed Tamiflu for .... patients.
