What we do
Our successful 3-year Step into Work Programme provides opportunities for Gateshead residents who 19 years and over and in receipt of means tested benefits to access training, education and health and sector placements to grow and sustain our health and care workforce.
How does it work?
The Step into Work programme is delivered 3 times per year over 6 weeks, providing training, education and knowledge to support both health care and administrative roles.

You will achieve two nationally recognised qualifications: Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Care (NCFE) and Entry Level 3 Award in Employability (NOCN) delivered by Gateshead Council’s Learning and Skills team.

You will access a placement with one of our Gateshead health and care partners which will provide valuable work experience to your CV.

Travel by public transport in Gateshead will be paid for

For all who learners on placement, you will receive a £20 supermarket voucher.
