Women's Health
LARC
Following Gateshead’s successful bid to become the centre for excellence for women’s health, working alongside Gateshead Trust and the Local Authority, CBC Health Federation will offer Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC). (coils and implants), then later enhance the offer with emergency contraception, C-card, contraceptive pill and injections.​​
Cervical Screening
Cervical screening clinics offer tests to detect abnormalities in the cervix that could potentially lead to cervical cancer. These clinics provide an essential service for women's health, allowing for early detection and treatment of pre-cancerous conditions.

Our Screening Clinics are available to patients registered with a Gateshead GP Practice and can be booked through your GP. These appointments are for females aged 25-65 years and will be held at Blaydon Primary Care Centre. All appointments are face-to-face only. Patient results will be sent directly to their GP Practice. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact our Urgent Primary Care team on 0191 445 5860.

Coil Fitting & Removal Clinics
Coil contraception, also known as an intrauterine device (IUD), is a small, T-shaped device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. It is a popular and effective form of long-term contraception.

Our Coil Fitting and Removal Clinics are available to patients registered with a Gateshead GP Practice and can be booked through your GP. These appointments are for females aged 16+ and will be held at Bede Centre. All appointments are face-to-face only. Implant Fitting & Removal Clinics
A contraceptive implant is a small, flexible rod inserted under the skin of the upper arm. It releases a hormone called progestin to prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, and thinning the uterine lining.

Our Implant Fitting and Removal Clinics are available to patients registered with a Gateshead GP Practice and can be booked through your GP. These appointments are for females aged 16+ and will be held at Bede Centre. All appointments are face-to-face only.
